Italian-New York restaurant and speakeasy overlooking the port of Saint-Tropez
Cherry sits above the port of Saint-Tropez on Rue du Portalet, a restaurant, bar and speakeasy that pairs Italian cooking with a New York accent. Picture windows and a terrace designed by interior designer Sarita Posada look out across the harbor and the bay toward La Ponche beach, and sunset over the sailboats is the view the tables are set for.
The menu reworks Italian-American classics. Start with the Cherry crudo trio of amberjack, tuna and salmon, a vitello tonnato or beef tartare with caviar, then move on to the house spicy vodka rigatoni, lemon spaghetti cacio e pepe, truffle and artichoke ravioli, or langoustines with linguini in bisque. A whole branzino with olive pasta is served to share, and the wine list leans on Italian and Mediterranean bottles.
Dinner runs in two seatings every night, at 7pm or 8pm and again at 10:30pm. A DJ plays each evening, mixing jazz and old-school hip-hop, and as the night goes on the velvet lounge turns into an Italian-American speakeasy pouring Cherry Spritz, verbena whisky sours, spicy margaritas and espresso martinis. The dress code is chic and elegant, with no shorts or flip-flops.
