Le Vesuvio is an Italian institution at 68 Boulevard de la Croisette, open all year and at any hour, with a generous, seasonal menu and a relaxed, convivial feel. Wood-fired pizza is served at any hour, alongside the Italian classics and dishes with a southern accent.
Chef Dominique Calcerano joined in 2019 and adds Mediterranean plates to the family menu. The pizza list runs from a Margherita or Napoletana to the Di Parma with cured ham and mozzarella, alongside the classics: osso buco alla milanese, breaded veal escalope milanese, beef carpaccio with fresh truffle, and linguine vongole with fresh clams, white wine, garlic and chili. Seasonal dishes lean south, such as a lightly lemony risotto with Nicoise zucchini, and the tarte tatin is the house's famous dessert.
The wine list pairs Italian and French bottles, from Tuscany to the great Bordeaux estates, with a few good Provence cuvees. Next door at No. 70, Le Cafe by Vesuvio serves the same menu from 9 a.m., starting with breakfast facing the sea, and adds a sunny terrace and a cocktail bar. In the evening it turns more festive, with live music and DJ sets carrying the night on.
Both spaces take private and corporate events, from breakfasts and lunches to buffets, dinners and cocktail parties.
