La Guerite sits on a rocky cove of Ile Sainte-Marguerite, across the bay from Cannes, and the only way there is by boat. Guests take the shuttle boat from the Capitainerie at Port Canto, and during the Cannes Film Festival the shuttle leaves from Moure Rouge. The restaurant has welcomed guests to the island since 1902.
The setting covers 1,000 square meters across a restaurant, a lounge and a beach of more than 400 square meters of sand lined with sunbeds, all looking back over the entire Bay of Cannes. It opens every day from May to September, from noon to 6 p.m.
The kitchen belongs to Athens-born chef Yiannis Kioroglou, who cooks between the oven, charcoal and barbecue and leans on aromatic herbs and marinades. The current menu runs from hummus, homemade tarama and sea bass ceviche to whole fish from the charcoal oven, whole grilled lobster, lobster pasta and lemon baby chicken, and most plates pass through that charcoal oven.
