Copal Beach is a beach club, restaurant and bar at 63 Boulevard de la Croisette, open 300 days a year and every day from 10 a.m. to midnight. It took over the site of the former 3.14 beach and dresses it in the spirit of South America's hidden paradises: white sails in the wind, bougainvillea, natural materials, velvet banquettes and the scent of copal, the resin incense that gives the place its name.
The menu was created by chef Juan Arbelaez, who draws on his native Colombia, and is cooked by executive chef Dimitri Giorgis and chef de cuisine Stephane Bichon. Plates are made for sharing: guacamole prepared at the table with blue and yellow corn tortillas, sea bream ceviche in yuzu leche de tigre, akami tuna tacos, carabinero tartare and grilled octopus with puttanesca sauce, with meats from a Josper wood oven and churros with dulce de leche to finish.
Days begin on the sunbeds facing the Mediterranean, lunch moves to the tables on the terrace with its pink polished-concrete walls, and the evening carries on at the table until midnight. Every Sunday the beach hosts a festive brunch.
