Blind Barber is a working barbershop at the front and a bar at the back, and the only way to the second is through the first. Guests walk past the chairs and the mirrors, through a door that is not signposted, and into a room that looks nothing like what they just crossed.
The back room is low-lit and leans seventies - knotty pine panelling, burnt-orange leather seating, a checkerboard floor and glass-block windows that nod to Fulton Market's history as the city's meatpacking district. Shelving stacked with books and objects lines the walls, and the bar runs long down one side.
Music is the main draw after dark, with local DJs rotating through and a dance floor sized for a decent crowd rather than a spectacle. The kitchen keeps it simple and the cocktail list does the work.
