Bambuddha hides behind tall bamboo in the countryside near Santa Gertrudis. Guests walk through a bamboo garden past stone statues to a temple-style restaurant of pagodas and open-air sanctuaries, and it has been serving since 1999.
The kitchen follows the old Spice Route, a MediterrAsian journey from Spain through Thailand to Japan, served the Asian way: plates arrive to share, as they are ready, in place of starters and mains. The menu runs through dim sum, bao, sashimi and nigiri, ceviche and carpaccio, Thai curries, pad thai and grilled skewers.
Signatures include Kowloon king crab in a spicy toban-djan sauce, miso black cod, crispy duck with Chinese pancakes, beef gyozas and yuzu hamachi. For a private occasion, the VIP Pagoda Experience adds an omakase, and the pagodas give covered seating when an evening turns cool.
The night carries on after dinner in the intimate bars, where resident DJs play and the cocktail list includes the Flirtinis and Foreplays, while the Moonlight Lounge pagoda hosts private parties. The dress code is smart casual for men and glamorous for women. Children are welcome, and families are advised to book the earlier sittings.
