Es Boldado · Restaurant · Ibiza
Clifftop over Cala d'Hort with the island's finest Es Vedra view, family-run seafood and rice.
Es Boldado is perched on the cliffs above Cala d'Hort, with what is widely called the finest view of Es Vedra anywhere on Ibiza: the great rock rising straight out of the sea, best of all as the sun drops behind it.
The restaurant has been a fixture of this stretch of coast for more than thirty years, family-owned and proudly rustic. The focus is seafood and rice, cooked in the traditional island way rather than dressed up for the view.
The dishes to order are the classics: bullit de peix, the Ibizan fisherman's stew of fish and potatoes, followed by arroz a banda, the seafood rice made with its own broth, along with fresh local fish and paella. A considered wine list and artisanal cocktails round out the terrace.
Come for a long seafood lunch or, better, a sunset dinner in high summer, when the light turns the water gold and Es Vedra becomes a black silhouette against the sky. It is a warm-season restaurant, and the terrace tables facing the rock are the ones everyone wants.
