Es Boldado sits on the cliff above Cala d'Hort beach in Sant Josep, at the end of a dirt track, looking straight out at the islets of Es Vedra and Es Vedranell. The view from the terrace over the sea, the sand and the cliffs is the reason people make the drive.
The restaurant has been here for more than thirty years and is run by the Tur Torres family, Antonia Torres Palacios and her husband Rafael Tur Lozano. The dining room is simple and rustic, and the kitchen sticks to fish, seafood and rice cooked the traditional island way.
The dishes the house is known for are its bullit de peix, the Ibizan fish stew, followed by arroz a banda, the rice cooked in the stew's broth, and its fish in salmorra. Fresh fish is priced by weight, and there is a list of homemade desserts to finish.
Es Boldado is listed in the Michelin Guide. The kitchen serves every day from 1pm to 5pm and again from 7pm to 10pm, so the view works for a long seafood lunch or for dinner as the evening comes in over the water. The house asks guests not to rely on the island's taxis to get there, so plan the drive in advance.
