Es Torrent stands on its own in a small secluded cove on the south coast of Ibiza, between the beaches of Porroig and Sa Caixota, with Sant Josep and Es Cubells the nearest villages. It started in 1984 as a wooden beach bar on the sand, and the house still calls itself a restaurant with the soul of a beach bar.
Xicu Sala and his team are the children and grandchildren of fishermen, and the restaurant keeps its own traditional llaut, the Nuevo San Antonio, working the east coast for lobster, rock fish and cuttlefish. Lunch runs to the sound of the waves on a terrace shaded by juniper trees, and the beach sunbeds are served drinks and snacks.
Ibizan red prawns are grilled lightly on a bed of salt, squid is sauteed with garlic and parsley, and the bullit de peix, the island fish stew finished with alioli, is followed by arroz a banda made from its broth. The rice list also covers blind paella with no bones or shells, black fish paella, fideua and spiny lobster paella, and there is spiny lobster with fried eggs and potatoes.
In 2026 the season runs from April 24 to October 25, with the kitchen open from 1pm to 8pm. It closes on Wednesdays in April, May, June, September and October, apart from June 24. Guests arriving by yacht can anchor off the cove, and the restaurant's own boat brings them ashore and back.
