The Box Soho opened in February 2011 at 11-12 Walker's Court, in the building that housed the Raymond Revuebar, a Soho burlesque landmark from 1958. It is the London sister of The Box in New York and bills itself as a variety theater, a club built around its stage shows.
The building covers about 7,000 square feet over three levels, from a reception foyer up to two floors of rooms. The main theater is a raked auditorium lined with booth seating, with a full stage, a middle stage and catwalk, and a large bar at the back. A smaller circular room, mirrored from floor to ceiling, has its own central performance pole.
The Box is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11pm until about 4am and is dark Sunday through Tuesday. A resident cast performs numbers built by the in-house directors, from aerial and acrobatic turns to burlesque and fire acts, with an MC keeping the night moving. The shows are adult and often risqué.
