A Greco-Roman feast staged in a lavish Mayfair dining room on Mount Street
Bacchanalia is a theatrical Mayfair restaurant, a 75 million pound project that opened in 2022 on the corner of Berkeley Square at 1 Mount Street. The dining room is staged around Damien Hirst sculptures, hand-painted murals, and ancient Greek and Roman artifacts, with marble columns setting a scene built for celebration.
The room splits across the grand dining hall, a bar built for an aperitivo transition, and Apollo's Muse, a private members' club hidden within the building, plus a small outdoor terrace toward Berkeley Square. Live opera plays during Sunday lunch, and the kitchen trades in shareable Mediterranean and Greek plates.
Start with tuna tartare or beef tartare from the raw bar, or grilled octopus with Greek fava puree and wild oregano dressing. Pasta runs to tagliatelle with black truffle and Devon crab linguine, and the open fire turns out grilled lamb chops, a whole salt-crust sea bass, and rib-eye on the bone. Sharing entrees include a glazed short rib and grilled prawns in a sriracha bisque.
The wine list runs deep, and the room opens Monday to Saturday from noon to 12:30 AM and Sunday from noon to midnight.
