Cirque le Soir began in 2009 as a burlesque club night and moved to 15-21 Ganton Street in 2011, a short walk from Carnaby Street and Oxford Circus. It is a circus-themed nightclub built around a stage where circus performers and live acts work through the night.
The stage sits in the middle of the floor, with the DJ booth to one side and booths of blue crushed velvet along the walls, all under red light and swagged red drapes. The bar is dressed as a fairground stall, ringed with bulbs and painted with carnival lettering, and one corner holds a small funfair with a free-play arcade, a rodeo bull, a ball pit and a photo booth. The venue holds up to 500 guests.
Cirque le Soir is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 11pm to 3:30am. DJs play hip-hop and R&B while the stage carries the acts, and the circus cast runs from fire performers, contortionists and aerialists to burlesque dancers and sword swallowers, with walkabout characters working the floor.
Tables are booked ahead, and entry is at management's discretion. Guests must be 19 or over on Monday and Wednesday and 20 or over on Friday and Saturday, with valid photo ID, and groups must be mixed. The house rule is to dress up, show out and get involved.
