Bocconcino sits on Berkeley Street between Berkeley Square and Piccadilly, a short walk from most of Mayfair's late rooms. The dining room is warm rather than austere - tan leather, cast-iron columns, low pendant lights - and it runs at a conversational volume early and a livelier one after ten.
The kitchen cooks Italian without much editorialising. Pizza is wood-fired, pasta is made in house, and the antipasti section is where the room shows off: burrata with cherry tomatoes and pesto served on Sicilian ceramic, crab ravioli, seafood risotto with langoustine. Sharing plates arrive faster than the menu suggests, which makes it an easy first stop.
It opens at midday and serves until 00:30 Monday through Saturday, closing earlier at 22:30 on Sunday. Live music plays on the later nights.
