LooLoo Studio is the room the Mexico City electronic scene treats as home base, set behind a black marquee on Londres in Colonia Juarez. It is built for sound rather than spectacle: a dark main hall holding about two hundred people, a booth set low and close to the floor so the DJ works the crowd instead of performing above it, and a laser and moving head rig that paints the ceiling rather than a stage. A second, smaller room runs its own program.
Programming is the point. House, techno, deep house and experimental electronic run Thursday to Saturday from 10 pm to about 5 am, built on extended sets rather than short headline slots, while the second room leans urban with reggaeton and Spanish language pop.
