Contemporary Mexican and mariachi on Masaryk
Porfirio's is a contemporary Mexican restaurant on Avenida Masaryk in Polanco. Its own menu runs through tacos, antojitos and grilled cuts built on Mexican street food reworked for the table, including a corn-tortilla huarache of rib eye with escamoles and a blue-corn tuna tostada with chipotle mayonnaise and soy-cilantro; a Rosarito-style shrimp taco with black beans and pickled onion also appears on the current menu.
The bar runs a separate cocktail list called Mexologia, built on tequila, mezcal and whiskey; the Jalisco, made with Don Julio Blanco tequila, Chinchon Dulce and strawberry, is one of the drinks on the current list for this location.
Live mariachi plays Thursday through Saturday evenings, which turns dinner into something with a second act. The kitchen runs from one in the afternoon until one in the morning every day, so late tables are genuinely available, and there is private parking on site plus Porfiritos, a supervised kids club with trained staff for family visits.
