Chef Jose Andres envisioned the room as a lightbox in the sky, pairing a stylish interior with 270-degree views of the New York City skyline from some 500 feet in the air.
The name blends the Spanish words for cloud, nube, and light, luz, and the space earns it. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the skyline, and the lounge also has terrace space. As the city lights come on, sunset drinks give way to a late lounge that stays open until 1:00 AM Thursday through Saturday.
The menu is built for grazing at altitude: modern interpretations of classic cocktails such as the Foggy Hill, made with mezcal, vermouth, Cynar and Aperol under an orange-thyme aromatic cloud, alongside Spanish-leaning bites from caviar service with Jose's potato chips and creme fraiche to hand-carved Jamon Iberico de Bellota with pan con tomate. Bottle service is available, and groups of up to 35 can take a dedicated section of the room.
