Harry Cipriani's more casual SoHo sibling on West Broadway, known for Bellinis and carpaccio
Since 1996, Cipriani Downtown has been the party-like Italian dining room on West Broadway in SoHo, the more casual counterpart to Harry Cipriani uptown, where a Bellini and a plate of carpaccio set the tone at lunch and dinner seven days a week.
It sits on West Broadway between Spring and Broome. The room is beautifully designed and hung with a collection of art pieces, and when the weather is agreeable the tables move outdoors. Seven seats at the bar are held for walk-ins only, the move when you want to drop in for a Bellini and a bite without committing to a full table.
The kitchen trades in Harry's Bar classics and Italian specialties. Start the way the house intends, with a Bellini, the white peach and Prosecco drink Giuseppe Cipriani created at Harry's Bar in 1948, and Carpaccio alla Cipriani, the thinly sliced raw beef he also invented. From there the menu leans into house-made pastas and risotto, from spinach and ricotta ravioli with butter and sage to the Cipriani baked white tagliolini with Praga ham, with calves liver alla Veneziana, veal piccatine al limone, and the Cipriani vanilla meringue cake to finish.
The restaurant is open daily from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, serving lunch and dinner seven days a week. Reservations run through Resy for parties of up to six, larger groups arrange their table by email with the restaurant, and tables are held for up to two hours. If no tables are showing online, the seven walk-in bar seats are the back door on a busy night.
