Clubby prime rib supper room in a historic West Village brownstone on Charles Street
4 Charles Prime Rib is an intimate supper club tucked into a historic West Village brownstone at 4 Charles Street, and it feels like a private clubhouse the moment you get in. Inside, the room is small and deliberately intimate: dark wood walls lined with paintings, crystal chandeliers, and plush leather seating that give it the feel of an old-school supper club shrunk to a hideaway.
It is a late-night dining den that winks at a lost era, and the appeal is that the whole place feels like a secret you were let in on. The headliner is the salt-crusted USDA prime rib with natural beef jus and horseradish cream, carved as a delicate English cut, a center Chicago cut or a bone-in King cut. Around it, the kitchen turns out a double wagyu cheeseburger, crispy brick chicken, a prime rib French dip, and sides like truffle mac and cheese and creamed spinach with blue cheese.
Save room for the chocolate cream pie or the Sundae Royale. The bar mixes a list of martinis and a house-made Bloody Mary at brunch, backed by a full wine and spirits list. The room runs Monday through Thursday 4:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Friday noon to 11:30 PM, Saturday 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM, and Sunday 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with brunch served on weekends until 2 PM.
