PHD Downtown is the 12th-floor penthouse of the Dream Downtown Hotel on West 16th Street, a rooftop split between an indoor lounge and an outdoor terrace that looks out over the Hudson River and the Empire State Building.
The room is built from Italian Portoro marble, Macassar ebony, nickel-finish walls and amber Venini glass chandeliers. Inside, guests settle into custom Italian leather banquettes at marble tables; outside, the terrace breaks into cozy seating niches under a retractable canopy, with a seasonal winter enclosure that keeps it in use when the weather turns.
Two full-service bars keep the drinks moving, and a fully equipped DJ booth with its own lighting and sound sets the pace once the room fills late. The whole space can also be taken over for private events, with room for up to 350 guests reception-style across the lounge and terrace.
