Daniel Boulud's Upper East Side French flagship has anchored 60 East 65th Street for three decades, the New York room for the milestone occasion, run with old-guard polish rather than noise.
The main dining room occupies the former Mayfair Hotel lobby and reads exactly as grand as that sounds: soaring coffered ceilings, neo-classical columns, custom Bernardaud porcelain chandeliers, and a rotating program of museum-quality art. A Tihany-designed refresh kept the room formal without making it stuffy. Before or after dinner, the Lalique-designed bar and the wood-paneled lounge handle cocktails, with the White Cosmopolitan as the house signature, and offer a more relaxed prix-fixe and a la carte format.
