Le Girelier has been a fixture on the Quai Jean Jaures for more than 50 years, right on the Port of Saint-Tropez, facing the sea, the orange-fronted houses and the yachts moored along the harbor. In a town that reinvents itself every season, it remains a fixed point for classic Provencal seafood.
The decor, in shades of sand and white, is meant to evoke the stern of a boat, and the tables face the constant movement of the port. In the kitchen, David Didelot and Laurent Simon work fish, shellfish and crustaceans in every form, from raw preparations and carpaccio to lobster, sole, turbot and spiny lobster.
The signature is the Bouillabaisse du Girelier, made with noble fish (loup, Saint-Pierre and sea bream) in a saffron broth and served with rouille, croutons and grated cheese. Around it come the seafood platters of oysters, langoustines, whelks and prawns, with half a lobster and half a crab on the Plateau Royal, along with seafood paella for two, grilled lobster and whole fish cooked a la plancha. The wine list includes Gulf of Saint-Tropez references such as Domaine de la Rouillere and Chateau Minuty.
Service runs continuously from noon to midnight, seven days a week. Reservation requests are confirmed by email, and a table may be reassigned if a party arrives more than 20 minutes late.
