Moroccan and Mediterranean cooking in the former Villa Romana, near the Place des Lices
Salama is a Moroccan restaurant a short walk from the Place des Lices in Saint-Tropez, found at the turn of an exotic garden at 1 chemin des Conquettes. Its story began in 1999, when the first Salama opened in the village. It later moved to rue des Tisserands near the port, and after a two-year pause it reopened in the former Villa Romana, where it sits today.
The building mixes traditional Moroccan architecture and decor with a contemporary finish, and everything on the menu is made in house. The Chicken Pastilla for two, sweet and savory with its chicken filling and cinnamon almonds, is the signature starter. Couscous comes many ways, from the Royal with beef meatballs, chicken skewers, lamb and merguez to a mechoui lamb shoulder for two, and the Mourouzia is a lamb shank simmered for four hours with ras el hanout.
The Mediterranean side of the menu brings BBQ grilled octopus with smoked paprika, a whole grilled sea bass with tomato chermoula and grilled prawns, while the bar mixes house cocktails such as the Salama Mules, with tequila, bergamot liqueur, orange blossom and ginger beer.
Dinner runs in two seatings every night, at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., and valet parking is available at the entrance.
