Cocktail bar and lounge on the 36th floor of ANA InterContinental Tokyo in Akasaka
MIXX Bar & Lounge is the bar on the 36th floor of ANA InterContinental Tokyo in Akasaka. The hotel sets it up as a meeting place above the city, pairing original cocktails with contemporary tapas while central Tokyo spreads out below.
The lounge is indoors, a chic, modern room of 35 seats designed to feel open, with the 36th-floor view as its backdrop and the city lights taking over after dark. On Friday and Saturday nights a DJ plays two sets, 20:30 to 21:40 and 22:00 to 23:20.
The cocktail list draws on Akasaka's Edo-period past as a district of samurai estates. Samurai Flame mixes wasabi-infused Haku vodka with sake, mirin and Lillet Blanc; the Matcha Gin & Tonic pairs yuzu-infused Ki No Bi gin with matcha and tonic, finished with gold leaf; Crimson Heritage layers imo shochu and Yamazaki ume with spiced Akadama; and Koukyo Reflection, inspired by the Imperial Palace moats, builds on chocolate-infused rum and The Chita whisky. The Japanese whisky shelf runs from Yoichi and Miyagikyo to Hibiki 21 Year Old, Akkeshi and Ichiro's Malt.
The bar opens daily at 17:00 and closes at 1:00, or 1:30 on Fridays and Saturdays, with food until 23:00 and last drinks at 0:30, or 1:00 on weekends. Online reservations cover arrivals between 17:00 and 20:00. The dress code is smart casual.
