Hiroyasu Kawate's French restaurant at Azabudai Hills, served around one 13-meter table
Florilege is chef Hiroyasu Kawate's French restaurant on the second floor of Garden Plaza D at Azabudai Hills, 5-10-7 Toranomon, Minato-ku. Kawate, who trained at Le Bourguignon in Nishiazabu, Jardin des Sens in Montpellier and Quintessence, opened it in Minami-Aoyama in 2009, moved to Jingumae in 2015 and reopened here in September 2023. It holds two MICHELIN stars in the MICHELIN Guide Tokyo 2026 and is No. 31 on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2026.
The dining room is built around a single 13-meter table, the table d'hote format Kawate long planned, where guests and staff gather over food, wine and conversation with the chef. The approach from reception opens straight onto it.
Kawate's cooking has moved steadily toward vegetables. As a sustainable approach the courses reduce the weight of meat, fish and dairy and look for new sides of familiar, everyday vegetables. One tasting menu is served at lunch and a fuller one at dinner, and each guest chooses a MEAT or VEGGIE main course when booking. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic pairings run alongside, and the Beetroot Flower, which can carry a message on the plate, marks birthdays and anniversaries.
Lunch is seated from 12:00 and runs about two and a half hours; dinner is seated from 18:00 and runs about three. Both services run Wednesday to Saturday, Sunday has lunch, Tuesday has dinner, and Monday is closed. Seats release online at midnight Japan time, one month ahead to the day.
