Imperial Lounge Aqua · Rooftop Bar · Tokyo

The bar lounge on the 17th floor of Imperial Hotel Tokyo's Main Building, above Hibiya Park.
Imperial Lounge Aqua is the bar lounge on the 17th floor, the top floor of Imperial Hotel Tokyo's Main Building in Uchisaiwaicho, looking out over the greenery of Hibiya Park. It runs from late morning to midnight, moving from afternoon tea in daylight to cocktails and live piano after dark, with a separate bar set at the back of the room.
The lounge is an indoor, British-style room with a wood-toned interior, comfortable seating for 201 and large windows that fill it with light by day and frame the Tokyo night view after sunset. The bar at the back seats 50, opens at 18:00 and has a darker, more stately mood. Two private rooms take groups of eight to 20.
The drink to order is the Mount Fuji, the hotel's first original cocktail, created in 1924 as a welcome drink for Western passengers on a round-the-world cruise. Old Tom gin, lemon and pineapple juice, egg white, cream, syrup and cherry liqueur are meant to evoke a red sun rising over snow-capped Fuji, and the recipe has not changed since. Fresh fruit cocktails are built to order from about ten seasonal fruits, and the evening menu runs from a Japanese wagyu tenderloin rare cutlet sandwich to marbled wagyu steak with truffle and wasabi salts. Afternoon tea is served until 18:00.
Live piano plays every night, with sets on the hour from 20:00. Online reservations are made through set plans, from afternoon tea to a two-hour free-flow cocktail plan and a dinner course.
