The 16 Best Rooftop and Sky Bars in Tokyo (2026)
Sixteen Tokyo rooftop and sky bars for 2026, from open-air terraces in Shibuya, Daikanyama and Azabu-Juban to high-floor hotel bars looking over Tokyo Tower and the bay.
Why we wrote this guide
Tokyo's skyline is the backdrop for a lot of its best drinking: Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Bay, the Shinjuku towers and, on clear days, Mount Fuji. Many of the bars that frame it sit high in hotel and office towers, and the word rooftop gets stretched to cover them.
So each entry below says what the space is. Four of these sixteen bars put guests in the open air: the terrace at CE LA VI, The Roof on top of Shibuya Sky, the Vista Lounge at Hacienda del Cielo and the rooftop at Tokyo Confidential. The Andaz Tokyo Rooftop Bar wraps a semi open-air terrace, Two Rooms has a terrace on its floor and Janu Tokyo has a Garden Terrace off its lounge, and the other nine are indoor bars on high floors, with the view through the windows. Every open-air seat on this list depends on the weather, and The Roof Shibuya Sky also runs seasonally.
The list reaches from Shibuya, Daikanyama and Aoyama to Toranomon, Azabudai, Nishi-Shinjuku, Nihonbashi and Otemachi, and from a Mexican terrace and a cocktail bar modeled on a house party to hotel lounges with live piano.

The ranked guide
1. CE LA VI Tokyo Restaurant & Sky Bar (Tokyu Plaza Shibuya)

CE LA VI takes the 18th floor of Tokyu Plaza Shibuya, a minute's walk from the West Exit of JR Shibuya Station, and the floor combines an indoor dining room, an open-air terrace and the Sky Bar, all looking out over the Shibuya skyline. Terrace seats depend on the weather. The CE LA VI name began in Southeast Asia and also has rooms in Singapore, Dubai, Taipei and London, and in Tokyo the Club Lounge and BAO by CE LA VI sit one level down on 17F.
The Sky Bar serves its cocktail list from golden hour into the late evening, with signatures such as the Shibuya Sunset and the Sake Sling, and the kitchen cooks contemporary Asian sharing plates or a course menu, from Hokkaido scallop ceviche to foie gras dan dan noodles. Lunch runs from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, the floor runs as a cafe until 5:00 pm, and dinner goes on until 11:00 pm, with last entry at 10:00 pm. Dinner is for guests aged 13 and over, and the dress code is smart casual: sportswear, tracksuits, sweatshirts and sleeveless tops for men are turned away. Online bookings cover lunch and dinner, while the cafe and the Sky Bar seat guests on arrival.

Best for: sunset cocktails on an open-air terrace above Shibuya before dinner.
2. The Roof Shibuya Sky (Shibuya Scramble Square)

The Roof Shibuya Sky is the open-air bar on Sky Stage, the rooftop observation deck of Shibuya Sky at the top of Shibuya Scramble Square, the tower that rises directly above Shibuya Station. Guests enter through the Shibuya Sky gate on the 14th floor and ride the escalators up to the roof, where the bar counter sits behind the heliport and sofa seats and standing tables face a sweep of the skyline from Tokyo Tower to Tokyo Skytree. The space is fully open to the sky, and in bad weather the roof can close without notice, with the bar closing along with it.
The list runs to bottled beer, champagne and cocktails, with Angel's Ladder, a hazy session IPA brewed for the bar by Y.Y.G. Brewery in Yoyogi, as the house beer and snacks from a Kinokuniya selection picked by the staff. The soundtrack, The Roof Mix, is chosen by music bars and record shops from around Shibuya. The bar runs seasonally and its hours change through the year; in November and December it opens from 15:00 to 21:00, last order 20:30. Sofa seats are sold as a set ticket that includes Shibuya Sky admission, for two or more guests in 50-minute slots from the top of each hour, a la carte guests use the standing tables, and guests must be 20 or older.

Indoors the ceiling rises eight meters, and an installation modeled on Kukulcan, the feathered serpent of Maya myth, throws light across the dining room and bar lounge.
The bar works through margaritas, classic, spicy and frozen, alongside tequila served bandera style, and the kitchen sends out tacos, Mexico City-style al pastor and Guacamole Fresco mixed at the table. Service runs from late morning to 23:00, closing at 22:00 on Sundays and holidays, and the terrace seats are used until 22:00. Terrace seats are their own booking category on TableCheck, a terrace request is seated in the Vista Lounge, and in bad weather guests move indoors when space allows.

A terrace on the same floor, which the venue calls its rooftop terrace, looks out over the Tokyo skyline.
At the bar, the house Mojito Selection runs from yuzu and shiso to fresh mango, beside classics such as the Vesper Martini and Negroni, and the grill turns out A5 wagyu sirloin skewers and surf and turf with half a grilled lobster. After dark the music turns to DJ sets, and live band nights are held regularly through the month. TWO ROOMS opens daily at 11:30 and runs until 02:00, with dinner orders taken until 21:30 and a late-night service from 22:00. Inside, a counter runs under tall ceilings hung with artworks, and a sofa area is designed to recall a tea ceremony room. There are 78 seats, and smoking is allowed on the terrace only.
Head Mixologist Yasutoshi Yoshiwara has worked the bar since 2016 and builds his cocktails around seasonal fruit and premium teas: Kyohime Amazake mixes Grey Goose La Poire with amazake, matcha and yuzu over an ice ball, and the Jasmine Whisky Sour pairs Chivas Regal 18 with lychee liqueur, jasmine tea, yuzu and egg white. The bar opens at 17:00 and closes at midnight from Sunday to Thursday and at 01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, with food served until 22:00, and entry is for guests aged 20 and over. Online tables are for arrivals by 20:00, for two to six guests, and open through the end of the month two months ahead, which suits an early drink at sunset before dinner.

The drink to order is the Mount Fuji, the hotel's first original cocktail, created in 1924 as a welcome drink for Western passengers on a round-the-world cruise: Old Tom gin, lemon and pineapple juice, egg white, cream, syrup and cherry liqueur, a recipe that has not changed since. Fresh fruit cocktails are built to order from about ten seasonal fruits, and live piano plays every night, with sets on the hour from 20:00. The space is an indoor glass atrium set around a grove of bamboo, with the Shinjuku skyline below and Mount Fuji in view on clear days. The hotel reopened in December 2025 after a 19-month restoration led by the Paris design studio Jouin Manku, and the lounge came back with a new cocktail list.
That list builds each drink around Japanese ingredients: 1984 pairs Hokkaido's 9148 craft gin with Campari and Amaro Nonino, and Kogane Road mixes Kogane ginger syrup with Taketsuru Pure Malt and Kanosuke Peated, with snow crab and avocado tacos and Japanese beef sliders from the bar menu. Afternoon tea runs by day, and live acoustic music plays in four sets from 6:00 pm to 9:45 pm, a duo from Thursday to Saturday and a solo performer from Sunday to Wednesday. The lounge opens at noon and the bar takes last drink orders at 11:30 pm. Beach sandals, sportswear and sleeveless tops for men are not permitted, and bookings for parties of five or more are taken by the hotel directly.

It combines an 84-seat bar area facing the tower with a 116-seat dining area, and both are indoor rooms set behind the top-floor windows; the dining area offers window seats over the night view of the city.
The tower view belongs to the bar area, and its tower-facing seats are sold as plans: the Platinum Seat Plan is a specialty seat for two looking straight at Tokyo Tower, and the Luminous Tower Plan pairs a tower view with a bottle of Taittinger Prelude Grand Cru in a glass holder lit in the guest's chosen color. The bar pours its own cocktails and a wine list chosen by the sommelier, and chef Ryo Motegi cooks set courses and a la carte for the dining area. Inside, the ninth floor has counter and table seats; the rooftop is the spot for sunset drinks, and when rain sets in the bar moves rooftop guests indoors to the ninth floor as space allows.
The cocktail list plays with familiar flavors through unexpected ingredients and inventive technique while staying approachable, with Champagne and premium spirits alongside, and the bar has two signature sakes made with the Kato Kahachiro Shuzo brewery: Funky Town, mineral and savory, and Butter Up, round and creamy. The bar opens at 18:00 every night and runs until 1:00 from Monday to Saturday and until midnight on Sunday. Indoor seats can be booked on their own between 18:00 and 20:00, balcony and rooftop seats are sold as packages, and rooftop bookings are cancelled automatically if rain is forecast. Tokyo Central Park is built on Codigo Blanco tequila, sherry, passion fruit, coconut and matcha, the Wagashi Fashioned is a rye cocktail with anko red bean, bamboo and gyokuro, and the low-alcohol Umami Spritzer is made with bonito dashi from Ninben.
