The room is laid out in three parts: 50 seats at tables, an 18-seat counter where guests talk with the bartender, and a 20-seat terrace that the hotel lists as open-air. After dark the lit Skytree fills the view, and the counter works as a bar, with a wide choice of wine by the glass and spirits from around the world.
The grand menu runs through the afternoon and evening: a charcuterie board billed as the sommelier's snacks, Norwegian smoked salmon and onion gratin soup, then scallops sauteed Burgundy style with mushrooms, beef rib braised in beer and a one-pound sirloin steak. The house Gate Hotel curry is a fixture, and dessert includes an affogato topped with kaminari okoshi, the Asakusa puffed-rice sweet. Dinner also brings set courses that end on grilled beef, and breakfast features an Asakusa tartine made with bread from the local Pelican bakery.
