Akkee earned its first Michelin star in the 2025 Thailand guide
Akkee earned its first Michelin star in the 2025 Thailand guide, and the same year its head chef, Sittikorn Chantop, became the first Thai man to take the guide's Young Chef Award - a fast rise for one of the country's most talked-about young kitchens.
The name comes from the Pali word for fire, a nod to the elemental role of flame and heat in Thai cooking. The room is intentionally immersive and dimly lit, the drama pulled inward toward the food and the open, no-frills kitchen where the cooking happens in full view.
It is intimate and atmospheric, not polished-formal, a setting built to focus attention squarely on the plate. Chantop's cooking revives bold, regional Thai recipes - some faithful to long-lost originals, others carefully adapted for the modern table - and delivers them with real intensity of flavor.
Fire and smoke run through the menu, which unfolds as a guided sequence leaning into the deep, layered seasoning that defines proper Thai food. This is a destination for adventurous eaters who want Thai cooking with conviction, not compromise.
It is a small, in-demand room, so book well ahead and come ready to follow the kitchen's lead.
