Front Room is the personal Nordic-Thai project of chef Fae Rungthiwa Chummongkhon, set inside the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok since the hotel's 2018 debut. Chef Fae built her technique in Europe's Michelin kitchens - among them Frederikshoj in Denmark and the three-star La Belle Epoque in Germany - before returning home to cook a cuisine that reads her own heritage through a Scandinavian lens.
The room matches the food's restraint: contemporary Scandi-chic in muted greys and beiges, an open kitchen clad in blond wood, and large windows that open the space onto the garden. It is calm and quietly distinctive rather than showy, a deliberate counterpoint to the grand hotel around it.
