Wine-driven European restaurant on the fifth floor of Central Embassy
Water Library is a modern European restaurant built around a serious wine program, set on the fifth floor of Central Embassy on Phloen Chit Road. It has been a destination for Bangkok's wine crowd since it first opened in 2009, a restaurant that treats the cellar as the main event, not a side note to dinner.
The kitchen cooks modern European food with French technique underneath it, from a cold pasta with Tasmanian abalone and a foie gras terrine to lobster raviolo, miso cured salmon and a veal striploin, matched course by course to an extensive wine list. The restaurant moved to Central Embassy after its original room at Chamchuri Square, its home for 14 years, closed in 2023.
A pairing is all but obligatory here, and a sommelier can steer the wine progression glass by glass across a multi-course meal. It suits a special occasion or a serious, unhurried dinner among Bangkok's dedicated wine drinkers.
Water Library is open from late morning into the evening, daily. Reserve a table through Chope, and come with an appetite for both courses and bottles.
