Yào Restaurant & Rooftop · Bangkok
Yao Restaurant & Rooftop sits atop the Bangkok Marriott The Surawongse
Yao Restaurant & Rooftop sits atop the Bangkok Marriott The Surawongse, bringing a Shanghai-chic sensibility to contemporary Chinese dining high above the city. The kitchen leans Cantonese and refined, plating dim sum and modern Chinese dishes against wide skyline views over the river and the Silom quarter.
This is the sit-down dining counterpart to the venue's rooftop bar, focused on a proper meal rather than just a cocktail. The styling is elegant and the outlook expansive, an easy pairing of polished interiors and an open-sky terrace.
The menu is built for sharing - dim sum, Cantonese-leaning plates and contemporary Chinese cooking meant to circle a table - and pairs naturally with a drink upstairs on the rooftop before or after. It is refined without being stiff, well suited to a celebration or a relaxed group dinner.
Best of all, it serves as a less-touristed alternative to the marquee river restaurants, with the same drama for less of a scrum. Book ahead for a skyline-facing table at dusk, and build the evening around a rooftop drink to catch the sunset first.
