Penthouse Bar + Grill crowns the Park Hyatt Bangkok, stacked across the 34th to 36th floors of the hotel on Wireless Road and looking out over Phloen Chit and the Central Embassy complex below. It is one of the city's most polished sky-high complexes - a multi-level grill, cocktail bar, whisky room and open-air terrace rolled into a single address above the heart of the CBD.
Each floor has its own character. The 34th is a serious grill with an open kitchen turning out imported meats and seafood; the 35th is a design-forward cocktail bar with an open-air terrace; and the 36th is the crowning rooftop, all city skyline. Tucked inside is the Johnnie Walker Depth of Blue Room, billed as Southeast Asia's first flagship Scotch whisky room, made for tasting sessions.
The kitchen centers on premium cuts and seafood cooked simply and well, while the bar pairs a skilled team with a deep whisky selection and a proper cocktail list. It is as much a destination dinner as a rooftop drink.
The mood is refined and upscale, suited to an unhurried evening, not a party. The bar runs from early evening to midnight; come at dusk for the grill and terrace, then move up as the light drops, smart-casual and in no hurry.
