La Mome Plage is a private beach and restaurant on Boulevard de la Croisette, designed as a dive into the French Riviera of the 1950s. Its name honors Suzanne Vreurick, known as La Mome Moineau, a flower seller in the Paris nightclubs of the Roaring Twenties who became a singer and later a Cannes billionaire famous for her lavish parties.
The day starts on the sunbeds, open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Lunch runs from noon to 5 p.m. and dinner from 8 to 11:30 p.m., so an afternoon on the beach carries straight into an evening meal by the water, with valet parking for the arrival.
The kitchen, led by executive chef Julian Cazalas with chef de cuisine Anthony Seknazi, cooks sunny Mediterranean food made for sharing, and the meal opens with focaccia dipped in lemon thyme and olive oil. The current menus run from fritto misto, guacamole and tuna tacos to octopus carpaccio with chimichurri and smoked octopus with creamy garlic potatoes, and the evening menu adds a sushi selection.
