Every Michelin-Recognized Restaurant in Chicago 2026
Chicago Dining Guide
Why we wrote this guide
Chicago has quietly become one of the most serious Michelin cities in America, and the 2025 Guide reshuffled the top of the list in ways that surprised even locals. The headline was the shakeup: Alinea, the modernist landmark that held three stars for well over a decade, dropped to two. That left Smyth standing alone as the city's only three-star restaurant. Kasama, the husband-and-wife Filipino room in Ukrainian Village, rose from one star to two, becoming the rare tasting-menu house to make that leap while still running a casual bakery counter by day.
So the shape of Chicago fine dining in 2026 looks like this: one restaurant at three stars, a tight cluster of four at two, a run of excellent one-star rooms, and a deep bench of Bib Gourmand and Guide-recommended spots that deliver serious cooking without the tasting-menu commitment. The food is not the hard part in Chicago. The hard part is access. The best tables sell out months ahead, many are fully prepaid and ticketed, and the calendars release on rolling windows that reward planning. This guide lays out every Michelin-recognized restaurant on our Chicago roster by exact tier, with a signature dish and a direct link for each, plus how to actually land a table. Last updated early July 2026.

How to book a Michelin table in Chicago
The tasting-menu rooms at the top of the list run on prepaid tickets, not standard reservations. Alinea, Oriole and Smyth all release seats through Tock as fully prepaid, ticketed experiences, with menus posted months in advance that sell out within minutes of the calendar opening. Set a reminder for the release window, have your date and party size ready, and treat it like buying concert tickets.
Most of the rest, from the one-star rooms to the Bib Gourmand and Guide-recommended spots, take standard reservations through OpenTable, released on rolling windows that vary by restaurant. Book the moment the window opens for the two- and one-star houses; the Bib and Guide picks are easier but still worth planning around on weekends.
MyRSVP routes you to the right platform for each restaurant and coaches you on the timing, the release windows and the workarounds that actually get you in. Outside Las Vegas we do not hold the reservation for you, the restaurant's own platform does, but we make sure you know exactly where to be and when.
