Two-star Bermondsey dining from the ex-Fat Duck team
Trivet holds two Michelin stars on a quiet Bermondsey side street a few minutes' walk from London Bridge, and it wears them more lightly than almost any restaurant at that level. It is the room Jonny Lake and Isa Bal built after years together at The Fat Duck, where Lake ran the kitchen as head chef and Bal was the group's head sommelier and a former Best Sommelier of Europe.
The space matches the cooking's lack of formality: an open kitchen sits behind glass at the center of the room, and a summer terrace looks over Snowsfields. Private dining is available for smaller groups on request. Chefs work the pass in full view while service keeps the formality light and the cooking precise.
The menu is a la carte at both lunch and dinner and moves freely across cuisines instead of settling on one tradition. The Hokkaido potato millefeuille is the signature, turning a humble potato into something architectural; other anchors include Coombeshead Farm sourdough with house kefir-cultured butter, the Pigeon and persimmon course, and the playfully named Turkish breakfast dessert.
The wine list is the other headline: over 350 bins arranged chronologically, championing lesser-known regions like Georgia, Armenia and Turkey alongside the classics, with Bal's floor team ready to steer. The kitchen runs lunch Wednesday to Saturday and dinner Tuesday to Saturday; Sunday is closed, and Monday evenings give way to a relaxed wine-bar service.
