71Above sits on the 71st floor of the U.S. Bank Tower, nearly 1,000 feet above downtown Los Angeles, and it bills itself as the highest restaurant west of the Mississippi. It opened in July 2016. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrap the dining room for 360-degree views: the Pacific and Malibu stretch one way, the San Gabriel Mountains and Dodger Stadium the other.

Beyond the main dining room, the SkyLounge bar welcomes walk-ins for Golden Hour from Tuesday to Friday, 4 to 6pm, with cocktails and shareable plates, and private dining rooms take larger groups.
Executive Chef Javier Lopez cooks seasonal modern American food built on California ingredients. The dining room serves a three-course prix-fixe that changes with the seasons, and the kitchen adapts it for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free guests when told at booking. The wine list pairs California bottles with Burgundy, Bordeaux and Tuscany, and wine pairings run alongside the prix-fixe. Dress is smart casual, with no athletic wear, shorts or flip-flops.
