Bar Oriente occupies three floors of a Roma Norte building on Durango, and each level does a different job. The lower rooms are the club: a dark, low-lit dance floor built around a full VOID Acoustics rig, the kind of system that stays clean at volume instead of turning to mush after midnight. Upstairs are private karaoke rooms, bookable by the hour and sized for groups large and small. It is one of the few addresses in the city where a serious techno booking and a karaoke birthday happen under the same roof on the same night.
The music leans underground. Techno, house, indie dance and disco from Mexican residents and touring internationals fill the calendar, published on Resident Advisor instead of a promoter feed, and reggaeton and pop turn up on the lighter nights. The crowd is Roma-typical: mixed, openly queer-friendly, and there to dance. The door is relaxed by Polanco standards, so dress how you like, but the room fills fast and the smoking terrace is small.
Doors are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 pm and the night runs to about 5 am. Karaoke rooms are booked and charged by the hour, and the popular slots are worth locking in well ahead on weekends.
