Cantina La No. 20 is the Polanco branch of a Mexico City cantina group, on Andres Bello a block off Masaryk. The room is built around a long bar backed by bottles, with a rooftop terrace above it, and it stays loud and busy well past midnight from Wednesday onward.
The cooking is traditional cantina food handled carefully rather than reinvented: milanesa, grilled octopus, tacos with charred cambray onions, arrachera brought to the table over flame. The mezcal and tequila list is the other half of the draw and runs long enough to be worth working through with the staff rather than guessing.
