Toledo Rooftop crowns a corner building where Avenida Chapultepec meets Calle Toledo, on the edge of the Juarez neighborhood. The terrace looks north across the low roofs of Juarez to the Reforma skyline, with Torre Reforma and Torre Mayor lined up on the horizon and the Chapultepec treeline off to the west. It is not the tallest rooftop in the city and that is part of the appeal: you are close enough to the street grid to feel the neighborhood instead of floating above it.
By day it is a restaurant under open sky, with potted greenery, a long bar and the kind of light that makes the afternoon disappear. After dark the tables clear and it becomes one of the more reliable social rooms in Juarez, with guest DJs playing house and a crowd of dressed-up locals and long-stay expats. There is a dress code and the door pays attention on weekends.
The kitchen calls its cooking Bajamed, a Baja California idea that folds Mediterranean and Asian technique into Mexican produce, under chef Oscar Valdez, and the calendar regularly hands the pass to visiting Mexican chefs. Cocktails carry the other half of the bill and the sunset service is the busiest hour of the day. Doors are 1 pm to midnight Sunday through Tuesday and 1 pm to 2 am Wednesday through Saturday.
