Gekko is a Japanese-inspired steakhouse and lounge in Brickell, on SE 8th Street. The name is the Japanese word for moonlight, and the room leans into it with jewel-toned interiors, custom wallpaper and soft golden lighting. It opened in 2021 and pairs a modern steakhouse with Japanese technique, sushi and seafood.
The menu balances premium Japanese technique with steakhouse tradition: Miyazaki A5 Wagyu on a hot stone, Chilean sea bass with saikyo miso, and twin Maine lobster tails with royal osetra caviar as an add-on. Starters run to A5 wagyu crispy rice, bluefin tuna crispy rice, otoro tartare with osetra caviar and wagyu dumplings, and the sushi list covers maki and nigiri. Miso dulcey lava cake closes the meal.
The dining room flows into a lounge that stays open until 4 AM on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, with DJs on the calendar those nights, so a late dinner can carry on into the lounge. The kitchen is dinner-only, opening at 6 PM nightly and serving until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
The dress code is upscale: no athletic wear, shorts, tank tops, athletic or beverage-branded caps, or flip-flops and sandals.
