Rainforest-themed dining and dancing in Brickell
Amazonico brought its first U.S. flagship to Brickell, landing the theatrics of the Madrid original at 800 Brickell Ave. Sandro Silva and Marta Seco opened the first Amazonico in Madrid in 2016, and the brand has since reached London, Dubai, and Monte-Carlo. The Miami location runs three floors wrapped around a jungle set-piece of a dining room, with live bands and DJs woven through the night.
The ground floor is the restaurant proper, built around an open kitchen, with live bands playing jazz, bossa nova and Cuban rhythms nightly. One floor up sits a bar and lounge where resident DJs and percussionists take over and a sushi counter runs alongside. The top level is a rooftop with a peacock bar and DJ booth, with Selva, the late-night club, tucked to one side and open Thursday through Saturday.
The layout is designed so a table can turn into a full night without leaving the building, and the energy rises with each floor. The cooking is Latin American and Amazonian in spirit, with Asian and Mediterranean accents, and much of it is theatrical. Mediterranean branzino and king prawns come off the spit, Dover sole and wild snapper come off the grill, and the meat side runs to an Australian Wagyu rib eye.
Arroz chaufa, with grilled duck and a fried egg, anchors the rice dishes, and dessert lands as a caramel-glazed roasted pineapple with coconut ice cream. The dress code is upscale casual, and the lounge, rooftop and Selva are 21 and over. Reservations open 30 days in advance.
