Japanese dining and skyline views on the ninth floor of the Gale Miami, Downtown
Yamashiro sits on the ninth floor of the Gale Miami Hotel & Residences at 159 NE 6th Street, an elevated Japanese restaurant with alfresco seating and panoramic views over Downtown Miami. It opened on October 29, 2025, the first location outside Los Angeles for the Hollywood original, a hilltop mansion completed in 1914 as a replica of a palace near Kyoto.
The design carries the original's Japanese-garden sensibility across roughly 9,000 square feet: bonsai gardens, koi ponds, reclaimed wood, and hand-carved doors, with the Miami towers as the backdrop. A central bar is designed to evoke a Japanese temple, a floor-to-ceiling mural is lit by a golden vertical beam, and a lounge-style entrance flows into the main dining room along garden pathways.
Chefs Charbel Hayek and Gustavo Montes put Japanese technique behind local Miami ingredients. Tables share sashimi, nigiri, maki, and skewers alongside American and Japanese A5 Wagyu. Look for the wagyu bavette with bone marrow teriyaki, the Golden King Roll with king crab and truffle scallops, the katsu sando on Japanese milk bread, and the A5 Wagyu rice pot. On Sundays, brunch runs from 11:30am to 4pm.
Dinner runs Tuesday through Sunday from 5pm, until 11pm most nights and midnight on Friday and Saturday; the room is closed Monday. The dress code asks for an elegant, contemporary style, with no sportswear, shorts, sleeveless shirts, flip-flops, or hats for gentlemen.
