Amazon-basin fire and a late jungle lounge in DIFC
Amazonico Dubai is the Gulf edition of a Latin American restaurant first opened in Madrid in 2016, reworked here as a jungle-lit room in DIFC. It sits in the DIFC Pavilion in the Gate District, a dense, green, theatrical space that runs from lunch through to the early hours. The menu roams across the Amazon basin and beyond: open-fire grills, ceviches and tiraditos, sushi and robata, and cuts of meat and whole fish cooked over charcoal.
Plates arrive to share, heavy on smoke, citrus and chili, and the kitchen leans as much on presentation as it does on fire. The cocktail list is long and built around Latin spirits, tropical fruit and plenty of theater, and it runs deep into the night alongside the food. The design is the draw as much as the food.
Foliage, brass, marble and low light fill the main room, birdcages and greenery hang overhead, and the upstairs lounge, Paraiso, turns into a music-led space late in the evening with resident DJs and percussion. Few rooms in DIFC shift so completely from restaurant to night without anyone leaving their seat, and the transition is the whole point of an evening here.
It pulls a dressed-up, international crowd, strongest from mid-evening onward, and stays busy well past midnight. The room works for a long dinner and just as well for a late table when the music takes over. Reservations are recommended well ahead, and weekend nights and the later sittings go first.
