Overstory is a cocktail bar on the 64th floor of 70 Pine Street in the Financial District, one floor above SAGA. It holds No. 46 on The World's 50 Best Bars 2025 and No. 33 on North America's 50 Best Bars 2026, and it wraps a serious drinks program around a 360-degree sweep of the city.
The arrival is part of it: guests are greeted in the red marble-clad lobby of 70 Pine, an Art Deco skyscraper, then shuttled to the 63rd floor in a dedicated elevator and escorted up a travertine stairwell. Modellus Novus shaped the oval room after one of the building's original boardrooms and drew on the interiors of 1940s ocean travel, with soft pink, peach, and copper tones. A wraparound terrace delivers the payoff, looking out over the harbor and the Downtown skyline.
The drinks are the reason to return, a list of creative cocktails such as the Terroir Old Fashioned, built on reposado tequila with palo santo and Tilden salt, alongside local beers, a short wine list, and zero-proof drinks. The food runs to a short bar menu of snacks such as a lobster roll, a hamachi hand roll, and a smoked eel croquette.
Overstory opens at 5 PM Monday through Wednesday and 4 PM Thursday through Sunday, closing at 11 PM Sunday through Wednesday and midnight Thursday through Saturday, and it is 21 and over. Tank tops, flip-flops, and athletic wear are considered too casual. Walk-ins are welcome when there is room, for parties of six or fewer, and reservations run through Resy for parties of two to six.
