La Petite Plage sits on the front line of Quai Jean Jaures on the Saint-Tropez port, a beach hut of a restaurant and cocktail bar facing straight out at the boats. The setting is bohemian and summery, with natural materials in warm shades of beige, pink and orange and the yachts moored just beyond the tables.
The menu is signed by Eric Frechon, Meilleur Ouvrier de France, and it celebrates summer with sunny, fresh Mediterranean cooking and local touches. Crudos lead, from yellowtail carpaccio with violin zucchini and mint oil to sea bream crudo with black olive oil and capers and a langoustine tartare with burrata. Grilled octopus with burnt bell pepper and feta, a monkfish, mussel and squid cioppino and carabinero prawns cooked like a paella follow, with wild sea bass grilled whole or in a salt crust to share.
There is also a Mediterranean mezze platter with sea urchin tarama, linguine with summer truffle or caviar, and a Black Angus rib steak with cafe de Paris butter. Desserts include a Grand Marnier souffle and a Tropezian mille-feuille with orange blossom, and the bar pours cocktails, fine wines and Champagne.
At sunset jazzy sounds drift over the terrace. After dark, live singers, DJs and dancers take over, and the evening turns into a party under the stars.
