French modern California cuisine and inventive cocktails on La Jolla Boulevard in Bird Rock.
Paradisaea is a restaurant and bar on La Jolla Boulevard, in the Bird Rock neighborhood, serving what the kitchen describes as French modern California cuisine with inventive cocktails. It has been recommended in the MICHELIN Guide since 2023 and holds a listing in the 2026 California selection.
The look is upscale tropical, down to the floral pattern that runs across the bar chairs. The venue frames itself as a celebration of food, cocktails and the good life in San Diego, and it works as a destination for both the dining room and the bar.
Petrossian royal ossetra caviar is served with accoutrements, 30 grams at $200. The jalapeno Caesar is covered in two-year Parmigiano Reggiano over gem lettuce, bread crisps, lemon and anchovy at $31, and the garden beet risotto brings Sage Hill beets, aged rice, confit fennel, parmesan espuma and rye at $38. There is also a Chef's Menu at $150 per person, offered Wednesday through Saturday, with a curator's wine pairing at $80.
Service runs Tuesday through Sunday, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday through Thursday and on Sunday, and from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Friday and Saturday. The Chef's Menu is a whole-table format, so every guest in the party takes it when it is ordered, which is worth settling when the reservation is made. Private parties are arranged by enquiry.
