Wood-fired California cuisine in the heart of Little Italy
Herb & Wood is the wood-fired flagship of the Puffer Malarkey Collective, a full-block dining room at 2210 Kettner Blvd in San Diego's Little Italy. An open hearth anchors the space, vaulted ceilings lift it, and the whole room is built around live fire and the kind of energy that pulls every occasion upward.
Since October 2024, Culinary Director Aidan Owens has run the kitchen. The Australian chef grew up on a farm near Byron Bay and trained across some of San Diego's most demanding kitchens, and he brings a deep command of whole-animal butchery, live-fire technique, and local sourcing to a room that was always built for exactly that. Herb & Wood holds a Michelin Plate, the Guide's marker for a kitchen turning out quality cooking.
