Onyx Room is a three-room, two-level nightclub at 852 Fifth Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter, built so you can chase a different sound without leaving the building. The crowd is inclusive and mixed, and more than six DJs work the rooms on weekend nights.
Upstairs, the Main Room is one long dance floor with towering go-go dancers, LED screens, a long bar, and an elevated DJ booth playing hip-hop, top hits, and EDM. Downstairs, the Onyx Bar is the first room you reach, a wraparound bar with no VIP seating where reggaeton, dembow, and Latin hits take over. Tucked in the back, the Grotto is the intimate room most first-timers miss, with Latin music at its core, the DJ staged at the center, and an open-format set on Saturdays.
Friday Night Essentials and Onyx Saturdays fill the weekend. VIP tables run across 10 sections upstairs and 6 around the Grotto dance floor; the best table, T4, holds 12 guests, and the largest takes 20. A table brings express, complimentary entry for the whole party and premium bottles from the menu, and the guest list offers discounted entry before 10 PM.
The club opens at 9 PM on Friday and Saturday. Dress is dressy nightlife attire, and gentlemen need clean, well-maintained closed-toe shoes; ball caps and knit hats, sports apparel, hooded sweatshirts, sandals, athletic and cargo shorts, and heavily torn clothing are not permitted.
