Modern Italian cooking on the tenth floor of the Tokyo Ginza Shiseido Building, with a full vegan tasting menu.
Faro is a modern Italian restaurant on the tenth floor of the Tokyo Ginza Shiseido Building in Ginza 8-chome, opened in 2018 and named for the Italian word for lighthouse. It holds one MICHELIN star in the MICHELIN Guide Tokyo 2026, and since January 2026 the kitchen has been led by Executive Chef Mizuki Yamaguchi.
The restaurant describes its cooking as Italian technique joined to a Japanese respect for ingredients, with the food, tableware and space conceived together. Beside the main dining room, a set of special counter seats takes one group of up to four per sitting, served a course built from the finest ingredients the chef has that day on tableware made to order for those seats.
Every menu is a set course built on seasonal produce from selected farmers and fishermen around Japan, and the kitchen does not hold itself solely to Italian cuisine. Dinner runs from an amuse-bouche and two appetizers through pasta, fish and meat, with a beef option, to dessert and petits fours. A full vegan tasting menu runs alongside it at lunch and dinner, and the sommelier pairs each course with wine or with a non-alcoholic pairing. At Saturday and holiday lunch, a five-dish Rapid menu comes with paired drinks.
Lunch is served Wednesday to Saturday from 12:00, with last orders at 13:00, and dinner Tuesday to Saturday from 18:00, with last orders at 19:30. Faro closes on Sundays and Mondays, and every guest at a table orders the same menu.
