Ryuta Iizuka's French restaurant in Roppongi, open since February 2011
Restaurant Ryuzu is chef Ryuta Iizuka's French restaurant on the basement floor of the Vort Roppongi Dual's building at 4-2-35 Roppongi, three minutes on foot from Exit 6 of Roppongi Station. Iizuka, born in Tokamachi in Niigata, worked his way through the Joel Robuchon kitchens in Tokyo, serving as chef of La Table and then L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, before opening Ryuzu on February 1, 2011. It holds two MICHELIN stars in the MICHELIN Guide Tokyo 2026.
The restaurant sits one level below the street and offers two ways to dine, at the counter or at tables in the dining room, with the same menus served to both. A full brigade of cooks, pastry chefs, servers and a sommelier works the room.
Two tasting menus anchor dinner: Menu Degustation, built on seasonal ingredients, and Menu Ryuzu, which layers luxury produce onto the season. A shorter weekday lunch, Menu Dejeuner, runs two appetizers, a fish course, a meat course and two desserts, and a fillet of Japanese Black wagyu can replace the main. The kitchen draws on produce from Iizuka's home prefecture of Niigata and vegetables from the Noto peninsula, and every guest at a table orders the same menu.
Lunch is served from noon with last orders at 1pm and dinner from 6pm with last orders at 8pm. The restaurant closes on Mondays and posts its other closed days on a monthly calendar. Bookings open on the 1st of each month for dates through the end of the month two months ahead.
