The China House sits beside the entrance of the Mandarin Oriental in Bang Rak
The China House sits beside the entrance of the Mandarin Oriental in Bang Rak. It reopened in 2025 after a redesign by Steve Leung Design Group that replaced its former dark, dramatic interior with a brighter, more modern space in pastel tones, alongside a dedicated tea bar.
The tea bar lends the meal a ceremonial edge, with rare Chinese brews and considered pairings built into the experience - a grande-dame touch inside one of the city's most storied riverside hotels.
The kitchen is led by Chef Fei, celebrated in China for his Chaoshan (Teochew) and Cantonese cooking, who brings that same tradition to Bangkok with contemporary refinement. Signatures include double-boiled geoduck soup, pan-fried peppered Australian Wagyu with Sichuan peppercorn, and Xisha-style Boston lobster. It is classic in spirit but precise in execution.
This is a special-occasion room, worth approaching with time to linger over tea and multiple courses. Reserve ahead, dress smartly, and consider the tea pairings to see the kitchen at full stretch.
